Status Update
There hasn't been a lot going on in this space for a little while unfortunately and the reason is that I've been sick for several weeks now. It's nothing serious, but I likely had the flu and it's been keeping me down since mid-December. I haven't been able to respond to any email or get the 7.0.1 release out as I had planned. However, I'm feeling better now and I'm going to try and catch up with what I missed. My apologies if I missed your email while I was away and I will try to get to everything in time. I'm also going to try and get the release out this month; it should be largely done. I hope you all had a good New Year and here's to a healthier 2020!

MacJournal 7.0.1b4
This beta should hopefully be the last before the final release. It has fixes for some random crashes, times when the Sidebar would be empty, the behavior of then "Numbers" list style, some undo behavior, and some fixes for "Expand Selected Journal" preference. Please let me know of any issues using the Report an Issue menu item in the Help menu.

MacJournal 7.0.1b3
Hi all, this is the third beta for 7.0.1. My aim is to get this release out during September so this will be one of the last beta. It is also the first release that is "notarized" by Apple so it will avoid any warnings on the to-be-released macOS Catalina release. There are also bug fixes for entries in tab, converting a rich entry to plain text, searching entries in encrypted journals, the contextual menu for journals, hiding the Entries List, and the "New Entry from Web Page" menu item. The "Export All" menu item is also exposed by default now (it used to require the Option key). Please try it out and let me know of any issues using the Help menus "Report" menu item.

MacJournal 7.0.1b2
This beta has fixes for remembering some appearance settings like whether or not the Info bar is visible, a crash resizing the window, the None item in the Main Document list picker, locked journals showing a useless "0" in the sidebar, creating new entries in a non-hierarchical navigation mode, exporting PDFs, creating a new tag in the Change Tags sheet, and a crash when exporting. Please try it out and let me know of any issues you run into using the Report a Bug menu item in the Help menu.

MacJournal 7.0.1b1
7.0.1 is a small release to fix a few bugs found in version 7.0 (released on https://danschimpf.com/ a little while ago). This beta fixes an issue with blog configuration UI, blog categories UI, dark mode, iOS syncing, and a preferences crash. The biggest change is with text zoom. There was a change in beta 3 of 7.0 to try and fix a Mojave compatibility issue that unfortunately broke line wrapping. This beta should try to fix the line wrapping without also breaking compatibility. Please try it out (especially on Mojave) and let me know if it does not work for you.

MacJournal 7.0b2
This beta fixes an issue with the Clean Up, re-added entry counts for smart journals in the sidebar, and fixed a focused editing issue. Text Zoom works differently here where you'll get a horizontal scroll bar when using it in certain cases, but this should hopefully fix text issues that people on Mojave have experienced. Also, the Picasa support has been removed as Google has turned that off on their end.

MacJournal 7.0b1
MacJournal 7 is a brand new version of MacJournal with lots of new features. I'll have more to say about this release soon but this is the first pre-release for testing. Some of the new features include a brand new map view for looking at entries, updated timeline, improved backups, improvements to the tabs, added outline entries, improvements to searching and blogging, improved separate editing windows, additional metadata for entries like duration, performance and user interface improvements (including Mojave Dark Mode). This release requires macOS 10.13. Please give it a try and use the "Report a Bug" menu item in the Help menu if you have an issue.

This beta fixes some issues downloading posts from Blogger. It also adds a short delay before locking journals after switching apps in case you switched by accident. It improves handling of the new dark menu bar in recent OS X releases and improved a situation where a default font was lost when editing the journal template for the first time. Please let me know of any issues by using the Help menu's Report an Issue item. Thanks!

This adds the ability to send images to WordPress.com and fixes a few rare crashes. It also changes syncing with iOS devices to send deleted entries from the other side to the trash instead of deleting outright as a safety mechanism.

MacJournal 6.1.7b1

6.1.7 is a small followup release to 6.1.6, which came out about a week ago. Some users were seeing issues where entries and journals would duplicate themselves while using MacJournal. This apparently was due to how MacJournal reacts to the system it is running on telling it that its data changed outside of MacJournal. This release tries to address this in a few different way. First, it improves the strategy used to merge the data from disk to eliminate cases where it might duplicate something. The second is to stop paying attention to these messages from the system in cases where it doesn't make much sense. If the document isn't on something like Dropbox, these notifications are likely spurious (and may be a bug in the operating system itself) and would just cause unnecessary work for MacJournal. This is now turned off for most cases and I will look into perhaps turning this general ability back on in the future after testing with future versions of the operating system.
Please let me know if you have any issues with this soon as I expect the final release to come out later this week,
