MacJournal and Lion

Apple's new operating system, Lion, came out last week and some users have wondered how MacJournal works with it. I'm happy to report that I've been using the current version of MacJournal with all of the developer seeds and the final release without any trouble. If you have had any issues, please do let me know at dschimpf@mac.com and we will work it out. Other than that, journal away!

5.2.7 is working well for me too Dan, but the ability to take advantage of Lion's full screen mode would be very welcome in the next update.

Thanks. That is indeed in the works.

I'm a bit behind the times, I was operating Snow Leopard from an external HD. it seemed to be accessing the same data from MacJournal on the laptop (internal) HD, that was when I was operating the laptop in Tiger. Now that I've upgraded the laptop after backing up the data to an external drive, MacJournal 5.1 no longer sees the old data! instead it forces me to start a new journal. My question is how can I access the data that appears to be intact? I also see cache files that I drag onto BBS Edit and can read, so somehow the application not only doesn't recognize its own data file (I get this):

""MacJournal Data" could not be handled because MacJournal cannot open files in the "MacJournal Data" format." WTF?!! Please advise!

I forgot to mention, I upgraded the laptop to Snow Leopard. Also, I'm not entirely sure where exactly the app should be pointing (which file where does it access) when opening and showing the 7 years MacJournal chronicling of my life, now missing?

MauiMacMan, please email me directly at dschimpf@mac.com and we can work it out there. It will be easier to collect more information about what is going on, thanks.

My wife is using an older PPC version, believe it is 2.1, it obviously doesn't work on Lion. She wanted to continue using the app but doesn't want to spend the $n. Is there a utility to read the file and populate into a RTF or TEXT file (maybe using AppleScript or something)?
When I tried opening the MacJournal file it didn't look like a text file to me.

Thanks,
WL

The best thing to do is download the latest version that has a 15-day trial, import the old data, and then export what you want.

Sync isn't working between Mac and iPhone on Lion.
