MacJournal 5.2.6

Another release; more syncing fixes. On that front, the "system clocks are too different" warning has been modified to show up only with a 60 second difference or more. Even if it shows, you can also still continue with the sync. An issue preventing the Mac from showing up in the device list should also be fixed. There were some other sync issues that are fixed as well.

But it's not all syncing! There are fixes for Magic Mouse users, blog servers with self-signed HTTPS certificates, smart journals, and more.

Use "Check for Update" in MacJournal to get the new release and let me know of any issues you run in to.

Where is the update? I can't find any link.

I leave it out of posts like this because the easiest thing to do is to use the in-app updating via the Check for Updates menu item.

When I launch the app, it only gives me two option, exit or update. Update brings me to this page. And I can't find the link to download.

Help! Many thanks!

The Check for Update is inactive.

Please email me and we can see what's going on with your setup. Thanks.

Dan, this happens for me also. It ist just his setup. When you try to update from 5.2.6b2 which just expired it doesn't give you the option to check for updates, just brings you to this page like beaver said.

That's a different issue from updating not working; you just don't get the option in the case of an expired beta. It's unfortunate, for sure. I'm looking for a way to allow the in-app update checking while still enforcing the beta expiration in future beta periods.

I am having the same problem. When I launch my MacJournal now it says beta has expired when I click update it takes me to this blog but there is no link to update. I can not use my Macjournal now. I purchased MacJournal Oct. 3, 2009. #ID: 1275551988 Please advise...

Same thing as others. Is anything being done?

As I said previously, I'm looking into ways to make this better for future betas so you can still use Check for Update after a beta has expired. For this beta, I posted a direct download link earlier, and you can get it from Mariner's site as well. Please let me know if you're having a different issue.

Dan -

If you are looking for fresh features, and if it's not too much off the direction for MJ, take a look at Chronories. I'm using MJ as a diary (and collector for various information), and some of the features in Chronories look like good ideas.

Cheers and Merry Christmas,

Frank

Thanks. I've checked out Chronories before, but if you have some suggestions about what could work in MacJournal, please email them to me.

Thanks again,
Dan

I have successfully downloaded the latest update, however, I am still getting the update error screen.

Hi Dan...
Have enjoyed MacJournal for many years but as I am now an avid iPad user I find you iPad app almost next to useless ....for example. pdf's disappear/formatting is inconsistent etc after sync and it just hasn't got the glitz and ease that I have become accustomed to with iPad apps.
'Tis a shame because it would have been my #1 go to app if it had worked seamlessly.

Cheers

Al

Chronories has some good Ideas, but it seems VERY UNSTABLE for me, I don't like to use it.

After reducing the MJ interface to just toolbar, entry, entrylist and CALENDAR, it works quite nice for me as diary. I like to mark text with different bg-colors, etc.

What I'd really love would be a timestamp added automatically to each new paragraph I add in an entry! As I start a new entry for every day, but keep coming back to it during the day or even after some days, this would be really useful for me! Or is there already a way?

Also, it would be great, if the colors, I assigned to a name, change in past entries, if I change them in preferences!

And I don't really like the MJ icon! I know, it might be hard to find a good one, and this is one of the better ones anyway, but still...... I don't really like the blue, etc..

Hey, thanks for the good work!!
