MacJournal 5.2.6b2

Get it here.

There is an important fix in this beta: a fix for iOS devices that don't show a Mac you want to sync with on certain networks. The issue was in MacJournal, but it only presented itself on certain network configurations, so you may not have seen it. But if you were in a situation where the Mac didn't show up on your iPhone or iPad even though you're sure the two devices are on the same network, this could be the fix for you.

There are also some other fixes for rare crashes, blogging to servers with a self-signed HTTPS certificate, and others. Please let me know of any issues.

I'm not sure anyone else is having this issue ... but I use one of Mac's Magic Mouses (Magic Mice?) and when I'm working on a blog post, the left side of the post will quite often slide off screen -- it's like the screen is scrolling sideways. Unfortunately, it will not scroll back (and there is no scroll bar below) -- I have to resize the whole screen in order for the words to come back to the middle.

I have tried to resize the window, but now matter how big I make it, the words still will slide off to the left. It's obviously not a work-threatening issue, but it does get annoying after a while. Thank you.

This fixes the sync issue with time differences between the device and the computer. Thank you!

Benjamin: thanks!

Joe: I've gotten a few reports of this and I think I have it fixed for the next release. Let me know if it continues after that.

Would it be possible to add Export to the Pages format?

Apple doesn't have an easy text-to-Pages converter built-in to the OS. There's one for Word documents, but not for Pages, alas. Ideally, one will be added in 10.7, but if not, I have an item on my list to try and reverse-engineer the format for simple files.

Thanks for the response concerning Pages. I would like to say that I really like your app. I have been using the trial for a week or so and just purchased a license. The one thing that sold it for me was the integration of the iPad app into the workflow. The more I use it the more useful I find it. I would like to suggest that the iPad app does not seem to deal with tabs very well. Documents that are created on the desktop with tabs then opened on the iPad have their tabs messed up. I would also like to see the ability to have multiple templates on the iPad. If it already does, then I missed it.

Again, awesome desktop app. Thank you.

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like MacJournal.

You can have a template for each journal on iPad (like on Mac). If you use the "Use as Default for Journal" item in the menu for an entry, that should only apply to the journal it is in, so you can set a different entry for a different journal.

Thanks again, and let me know if you have any other issues.

I can't really verify it but it seems to me, that when I search all my entries, I cannot sort the list of results by date....I have this option, but it doesn't work!!

Thanks for YOUR work, btw.!!

What are you trying to sort the results? It should definitely work. Are the results displayed vertically next to the sidebar or horizontally over the text? Please email me (using the Report item in the Help menu) and we can work through it.

Thanks, I'm glad you like MacJournal!
