MacJournal 5.1.3b1
Get it here.
This is the first beta of 5.1.3. This is intended to be a very small and quick release, hopefully out this month while I work on some other things in tandem. This release contains all the fixes that I want to do already, so I suspect there will only be a handful of changes between now and the final releases.
There are fixes for some bugs in the UI, blogging, and searching.

I don't usually make a lot of resolutions, but I would certainly like to get this app done sooner rather than later so I can work on other things as well.

I've spent most of the day trying to figure out how to get MacJournal to download more than my 20 most recent entries from LiveJournal, but to no avail. People in the forums have mentioned changing the number of entries to download from "all" to a specific number, but I can't even seem to get that option to come up on my computer. I have the most recent version and wonder if there's anywhere you can point me to help figure this out. I love the software otherwise. Thanks!

How do you have it configured?

Hey Dan,
I have the same issue as kmessner. I'm not sure what you mean by "how do you have it configured," sorry. I have it set up as a Livejournal blog. If I choose "download entries from server," it just auto-downloads the 20 most recent. I can't find anywhere to set an option to get more posts. Can you offer any advice?
Thanks!
Hillary
ps several of my friends who also own MacJournal are eagerly awaiting your reply!

Hi Dan big fan of MacJournal and use it strictly for work as a all in one note taker. I however have one small request that would make my life a bit easier and hope you think its easy to implement in the future. A lot of my notes I like to separate the thoughts in the same entry by a line. I use a [-------] to take care of this but for each journal I have to build one then copy/paste as I go along. A button would be nice for this. Thanks and looking forward to a iphone applet

Just updated to 5.1.3.b1 after having to restore from my thumb drive after losing all my entries.
Now it won't post to Livejournal. I haven't changed anything but it keeps telling me "missing required arguments". And I notice that it won't turn off the ftp check-box if I go in and look at the settings.
This is on a Macbook with 2 gig ram, plenty of drive space, and 10.4.x.
Any ideas?

I found all the problems with LJ posting and downloading and fixed them this morning. I will release a new beta soon, but you should use 5.1.2 if you need it now.

Cool. I post every day when I can so I'll probably download 5.1.2 for now.
I'm still concerned about the loss of data though that initially spurred the upgrade but that was a straight 5.1 version. Weirdest thing - showed the entries but they were all empty.
Regardless I'll look forward to the new beta and downgrade in the meantime. Thanks!

Jason- There are a few utilities out there that can insert text with a few keystrokes. There is TypeIt4Me or TextExpander, off the top of my head. Those should work for you.

@Jason (and Dan): Butler can be assigned a keystroke to generate ---- (or anything else). And it does so much more, being a worthy competitor to Quicksilver and Launchbar.

Hi,
I just got a MacBook yesterday and tried to setup MobileMe syncing w/ 5.1.2. In general it does work but I recieve syncing conflicts everytime one of my machine syncs. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks, Marco

Did you transfer the contents of the machine in the setup assistant? If so, it leaves syncing in a bad state. Remove the Sync Services folder in Library/Application Support and restart your machine and start over with syncing.

No, I started w/ a clean machine and install. No entries. Just uploaded with my iMac to the cloud and downloaded w/ my MacBook. For the fist time I've resolved all sync problems on my MacBook by accepting the version from MobileMe. After that hundrets of errors pop up on my iMac and so on...

I'm having similar problems with MobileMe syncing. MobileMe insists upon changing all of my journal entries despite my not even opening MacJournal in days. I've also experienced outright sync failures attributed to MacJournal entries.
I'm switching to DropBox for now as well.
